Welcome to Wickenstone Equine

Nestled in the beautiful surroundings of Biddulph Moor, Wickenstone Equine has been sharing the joy of horses with young riders since 2021. Based at the farm below Shakes on the Rocks, our riding school is built on a passion for teaching, caring, and creating unforgettable experiences with horses.

We offer a warm, professional, and supportive environment where children can learn to ride while having fun. Our friendly horses are experienced, and perfectly suited to helping riders gain confidence in the saddle.

What We Offer:

- Children’s Lessons -

Private and semi-private half-hour sessions tailored to each child’s ability and goals.

- Pony Days -

Full days of fun, where children spend time riding, grooming, and learning about horse care through a variety of activities, aswel as meeting other animals and taking part in fun games.

- Show Jumping Days

An exciting chance for riders to experience the thrill of competition in a safe, encouraging atmosphere.

- Hacks -

As children progress in their riding, they can enjoy guided hacks across the beautiful Biddulph Moor countryside, putting their skills into practice outside the arena.

    - Pony Rides at Shakes on the Rocks -

Gentle, relaxed rides for younger children to enjoy their first taste of horse riding.

- Birthday Pony Parties -

A magical way to celebrate, with ponies, riding and fun filled activities children will remember forever.

At Wickenstone Equine, our aim is to teach solid riding foundations while making every session enjoyable. We believe riding isn’t just about learning skills, it’s about building confidence, having fun, and creating lasting memories with our wonderful horses.

Freddie

Freddie is a bay Welsh Section D and Jess’s very first pony, a Christmas gift 11 years ago – which makes him extra special to Wickenstone Equine. Calm and steady with a cheeky side, he’s perfect for beginners and loves carrots, kisses, and plenty of fuss.

Misty is a bay Welsh Section D in her 20s, but she’s still full of life and loves to whizz around the arena. Gentle and calm yet speedy when she wants to be, Misty is great for both beginners and more experienced riders. She especially enjoys hacks and lots of grooming.

Marni

Marni is a black Welsh Section C with a super friendly nature (even if her face sometimes says otherwise!). She’s an all-rounder who loves food and naps. Lazy to start, once she gets going there’s no stopping her!

Big Fred

Big Fred is our huge Clydesdale x Shire and a true gentle giant. Due to his size he only does steady rides, but he’s a firm favourite at the yard. Big Fred loves nothing more than food! in any form!
